300-350,
if they send that out at 400 for the holidays, there's no chance for
them. That's not to say either company is immune to bad decisions, but,
400 is unreasonable --- measure twice, cut twice |
It
is, but if they're gonna launch at $300-350, that means they have to
either bundle with the gimped SKUs or price cut the good SKUs. I hope
it's the latter, but given what some people have already pointed out
about what Natal and Move actually are, it might be the former. Also,
the cheapest PS3 goes for $300 right now. Sony has very little wiggle
room and probably has to cut the price anyway (or release a cheaper
SKU) anyway. --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |
anyway --- Yoblazer: http://i44.tinypic.com/5nw45i.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |
I'd
be astonished if they tossed an extra 50-100 bucks on top of their
models *now* to also get the Move. That's coming along with it without
extra cost. It has to. --- measure twice, cut twice |

I'd
say Natal has a good bit of potential with the casuals, it looks much
newer and uses much more motion which was the hook of the Wii to the
casuals, so they'll think "oh hey this is a big step up" Meanwhile Move looks like more of the same, hell it looks exactly like the Wiimote/Nunchuck, if casuals want to pick one new piece of hardware, they'll pick the one that's newer and looks more advanced. --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
Rumor: Kinect to have two versions, most expensive costs $189.00 June 14th, 2010 @ 01:45 By Stephany Nunneley VG247 has just been informed by an inside source close to Natal/Kinect that there will be two version of the camera controller when it hits the market. The most expensive one will run you $189.00. If you recall, there was a story a while back that the camera in Natal had be dumbed down a bit in order to make it cheaper. Then there was a report back in March stating that there was a “second version of the camera” being worked on – so all this makes a bit more sense now. Well, we’ve been told by our source that Microsoft replaced that bit with tilt, that is controlled by a motor on the base – which has be known for a bit now. Kinect was outed as the name of the motion controller earlier by a Danish advert and USA Today. Pat is heading to the Natal event as we speak, hopefully we will know more soon. http://www.vg247.com/2010/06/14/rumor-kinect-to-have-two-versions-most-expensive-cost-189-00/ not sure if legit or not --- xyzzy |
hmmm $190 almost suggests to me that they're looking for sales from the footprint now. --- measure twice, cut twice |
natal
has potential, definitely. microsoft is a master of marketing, and they
have a lot of money and pull to make it happen if they're serious and
committed to the project. as far as price, agree with neon that there is no way this is bundled for $400 -- that's killing the product before it even arrives. in microsoft's case, i expect price drop on the 360, maybe even $100. but natal with a 360 won't be more than $300 if they want this to sell well. $400 pricepoints just aren't viable anymore. --- |
From: ZFS | #060 Uhh did I miss something here. If this was true, Microsoft would have a lot more success with their phones, mp3 players, and even gaming consoles. I thought marketing was one of their weak points. Anyway, I like the optimism you and neon share about the price points. I care less than nothing about Kinect/Move as products, but I'll love them if they drive down their consoles' prices (and generate more laughs at E3, which I'm more confident about!). --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |
Microsoft's
good at marketing yeah. they sell software better than anyone in the
biz. I don't care about their phones or mp3 players, the 360 continues
to motor on. here's the thing with Natal - if it gets enough buzz, people will buy it no matter what. people buy Rock Band en masse and it's like $150-200. if Natal hits the right spot then it'll sell no matter what. I just don't think that spot is being hit here. gonna need some kind of killer app to prove to people 'hey, this works and it's awesome.' we'll see if Kinekt Sports is that - gotta see it before writing it off. --- xyzzy |
Microsoft has done a terrific job with their gaming consoles. --- measure twice, cut twice |
that
said, it's tough to say without seeing it and what plans they have. i'd
be surprised if it's packaged in at $100 more than the base model. part
of the wii's success was its price. marketing to a casual audience
means coming in low on the the price. anyway, i'm kinda looking forward to seeing this thing. it could be kinda cool if it's even as good as the wii. i'm into motion stuff as a diversion and something to goof around with. --- |
... Now here's a weird rumour. “Let us start with what I know. A big publisher will present a very promising peripheral for Wii. You might think that all sensible peripherals have been done, but not quite. This one could become quite useful. And, surprisingly, the publisher has managed to secure the support of other publishers for it, I am told. So this one will not gather dust as soon as that ´Tony Hawk Ride´ board, they hope. I will only give you a cryptic hint: the peripheral will enable some seminal DS games to be adapted to Wii better than would otherwise have been possible. A cryptic hint, like I said.” http://www.nintendoeverything.com/41898/ --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
is it a usb cable and a firmware update? --- measure twice, cut twice |
I'm
tired of dumb rumours. I think I might just ignore them for the next 12
hours unless something more concrete starts popping up. like what the hell is this If the current round of LA chatter turns out to be true, tomorrow’s Activision “preview” event at the Staples Center is going to be both unmissable and ridiculous. VG247 has been told that the party, which has cost $6 million, will “definitely” feature both Usher and Jane’s Addiction, as well as a mystery headline act – both Lady Gaga and Beyonce have been mentioned in the past 24 hours. Not all. The event is actually taking place in the Staples Center. Not in an outside part of it. It’s in the actual auditorium. Why? Well, it’d be tough to have the LA Philharmonic Orchestra squashed into one of the outdoor bars. And how could you lower down a skate ramp while Tony Hawk is skating on it into anything but the home of the LA Lakers? Think that’s mental? Apparently Activision has recruited the world’s “best strippers” for the party, and will have the ladies doing their thing at every corner of the crowd. If you’re now thinking it might be a good time to try for a ticket, tough lines. The event is strictly invite-only, and all requests are non-transferable. Are we going? Of course we are. It starts at 9.00pm PST tomorrow night. I know Eminem's supposed to be at this thing --- xyzzy |
oh, hey, tran, do you know if spike is running all of the conferences, or are they just doing microsoft's stuff? --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |

we need more Mega Man |
nice, that'll work. speaking of rumorz, any ridiculous ff7 stuff ! also, what are you dudes looking forward to out of this? i feel like i have no idea what's here or what's been announced / rumored, so outside of like halo, zelda, lara corft and civ5 i don't have much! --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
There are always MEGATONs --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
Nintendo's
got all the cards. Zelda, 3DS and a nice collection of RPGs, from DQ9
and Golden Sun DS to Last Story and Xenoblade. Sony's focusing on Move
(their new slogan is "it only changes everything" so you know it's
going to be big) and Microsoft's got the Natal stuff, so Nintendo might
actually hit gamers better than the others this time. from Sony, I want a new Last Guardian trailer. from Microsoft, some info about their XBLA stuff. from Nintendo, Last Story and Xenoblade stuff, along with some nice surprises. I think I'm more looking forward to smaller announcements -- things that wouldn't make the big press conferences -- than the typical e3 fanfare. --- xyzzy |
oh and I want to see new Metroid gameplay too. Nintendo is where I'm at this year for sure. --- xyzzy |
Already
been playing Xenoblade the past few days so I don't need any info on
that, but definitely would love to finally see something of The Last
Story and more Metroid of course --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
by 'more info' I mean 'a US date' for Xenoblade. --- xyzzy |
oh yeah how did I leave out to what I'm looking forward to seeing the very most - 3DS --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
haha, not an e3 without MEGATONS. and yeah, im the same way. most of what i'm looking at is smaller stuff, or at least for now. who knows with new announcements. a couple of pre-e3 stuff i did see was dreamcast games on xbla and yakuza 4 -- awesome zone. --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
by the way, HM, I played some Xenoblade. you're going to really like it. we'll talk about it when you get a computer back. are you getting it fixed by the way? --- xyzzy |
yeah,
nintendo is the one with all the stuff to look forward to. even of
potential announcements, nintendo's got a lot of good stuff they could
go with. microosoft/sony doin' motion controls, nintendo doin' games. also, are we sure last story is gonna be here? i would think so, but it seems likwe something they might hold back until tgs. hopefully it is -- gooch is always good news. --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
Gooch needs to stick to Legos and pictures of dogs. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
no
confirmation but they've been showing more and more stuff lately. it
feels like it's ready to get officially unveiled now and e3 would be a
good place to broadcast it, especially with Xenoblade out in Japan now.
hell, Xenoblade came with Last Story ads and screenshots in the
Xenoblade manual. --- xyzzy |
oh,
did you? good to hear it turned out well. and yeah, i'm trying to fix
it -- probably just gonna get a new one, even some $300 thing is better
than mine now! sux i'm missing out on the new last story screens. any vids or new details? --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
Nintendo looks like it has everything that people want from them, and the 3DS, and the Vitality Sensor. They should crush. I'm looking forward to Fable 3, Gears 3, 3DS, Zelda (and praying they dont put out WW/TP quality), and how MS and Sony deal with their new peripherals. --- measure twice, cut twice |
Look I remember when Zelda was good, not when I had to convince myself it was good --- measure twice, cut twice |
you probably also remember the crusades --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
For
the first time in many years I'm looking forward to Nintendo more than
anyone else. Square-Enix has officially left the building and the main
MGS series has came to an end, so apart from The Last Guardian and the
slim hopes of Persona 5, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Uncharted 3
announcements I'm pretty ambivalent about the PS3. Microsoft seems to
have its usual Halo/Gears/Fable plus massive Natal hype (I don't care
about paying through the nose for Natal or Move... I'm only just
getting into the Wii's motion controls!). Nintendo has a new Zelda, a
new Metroid, an exciting new handheld, a new Pokemon gen, The Last
Story and Xenoblade (please Europe releases for the RPGs!). The event's always great fun to follow though - together with World Cup matches the next couple of days should be great to kick back through, playing SMG2 in the meantime. --- Final Fantasy XIII review: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/review/R140434.html You're pretty good, Dr_Football. |
oh wow, in Xenoblade I just realized you can just bring up the map to to teleport lol not being able to read anything, can't wait for this to come here --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
I
haven't followed Last Story too closely - kinda just waiting for
something real instead of dumb blog post updates or concept art.
screens don't tell much, especially in an RPG. --- xyzzy |
I don't think it makes a difference if you followed it or not, there's pretty much no info! --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
My most anticipated games for the next few years: Kingdom Hearts III Knights of the Old Republic III Resident Evil 6 Zelda Wii I am most looking forward to ________'s press conference. --- Yoblazer: http://i43.tinypic.com/25z1non.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |
I
like the name Kinect. Not a huge fan of the "rumoured" 360 redesign.
It's great that it has Wi-Fi built it, but the thing looks ugly.
Although If they have completely eliminated the RROD though then it
doesn't matter that much. --- Whoomp there it is |

whoa, is the 360 slim rumored to have built in wi-fi? megaton alert. that's the only big thing the 360 is missing --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOKCjFyDTq8 goddamn this looks useless. controllerless video streaming on netflix would be awesome but not $100 awesome. microsoft's gonna take some crap tomorrow. --- add the c and back away iphonesience |
Blu-Ray
would be the only difference then, but it's still a big one. Of course,
if Microsoft wants to be aggressive, they can release this thing under
$300, which isn't even a stretch considering redesigns like this should
cut production costs (that's exactly what Sony did with the PS3 Slim).
That would be just great. I'm gonna stick with my limited edition red 360 until it dies, but right now, I'm cheering any move that results in Sony lowering the PS3 price. --- Yoblazer: http://i44.tinypic.com/5nw45i.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |
