GameFAQs Contests
transience's video game topic -- soon to be an e3 megathread.
nintendo's show should be good -- zelda, new system, metroid, new unannounced games, casual stuff. they'll be balanced. i dont't know about 'eliminating' competition, but they should be fun to see if you like nintendo -- which is most. zelda is my big thing. wanna see what they've been working on all this time and if lessons have been learned. also, predictin' nov 2010 ! 3ds should be something, too. --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
hopefully reggie will play some wii sports resort jetski again --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
So is this Activision thing at midnight an actual conference or is it something else entirely? --- Don't go forward without Sticky White Stuff. http://backloggery.com/herodeltiempo/sig.gif |

it's a conference call. I don't think you'll hear anything from it, it's probably more of a financial thing. --- xyzzy |
I would have liked that Metroid Other M trailer more with some actual gameplay --- "You brought your *****, to the waffle hut?" |
yeah, same. tired of seeing the Super Metroid ending over and over and over. I know it's a great hook but yeah. that said, the last gameplay trailer sold me already so if I don't see anything else I'll be okay with it. I kind of want to go into it blind. --- xyzzy |
The first trailer sold me, for god's sake. I'm all set. --- Shut up woman, get on my horse! Now this is entertainment! |
From: rammtay | #259 Not even the awesomeness of Guile can make that look less awful and awkward --- "You brought your *****, to the waffle hut?" |

Sony - I don't think people realize what Sony's about to do. they're not only going to have a Move presentation similar to Kinect's, but they're also going to dive head first into 3d. the 3d fad is far worse than motion control because the barrier to entry is so great. Killzone 3's main selling point is 3d and there's other games looking to make that jump as well, especially Sony's first party stuff. Move should appeal to regular gamers more than Kinect because it can have more practical value (like aiming in a FPS), but I don't think this is going to be a smash hit. when they start showing their version of Wii Sports, people are going to be like 'didn't we just do this?'. that said, Sony has some good stuff if they stick to what they know. - Killzone 3 (3d) - LittleBigPlanet 2 (Move) - Socom 4 (Move) - GT5 (3d? this would be pretty big if true) - Move information - predicting $99 with a game, out this holiday - Move games - probably similar to Kinect but with a little bit more focus on standard games. I expect some shooters based on it. - 3d information - Super Stardust HD 3d, Pain 3d, other games getting 3d patches and probably a few new PSN games announced - God of War PSP 2 - FF9 for PSN (yep, SHINE is right, they delayed it solely to pimp it out at e3) - FF14 - The Last Guardian (here's one I want to see) - DC Universe MMO - PSP news - I expect some form of price drop or bundle announced. I do not expect a PSP2 unless they're flat out crazy. if they launch PSP2 alongside 3DS it's going to get killed unless they can position it as a media device with a phone built in, and even if they do that and make it affordable, people are going to stick with the iphone for that kind of stuff. then again, I just came across an article that claims Sony has 'new hardware to announce at e3' so who knows - Resistance 3 - Kojima's game? - Infamous 2 - Motorstorm 3 I'm really not feeling Sony overall this year since the only thing I really want is Last Guardian. they're going to need to bust out some surprises to get me to like 'em this year. --- xyzzy |

What
was the game in one of the conferences today that at the end they said
"and this is cliffhanger, we'll show you the rest at Sony's" --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
Quick predix before I go to bed Nintendo - charts - graphs - charts - graphs - numbers - it prints money - ds stuff, dq9, POKEMON, golden sun, fire emblem - 3ds - brain age 3d seems like a good bet, also probably some n64 game ported over, brace for super mario 64 3ds - vitality sensor - silly vitality sensor games and probably some new extentions of the Wii ___ titles, I guess Wii Party fits here - rpgz - metroid - zelda - star fox wii Sony - gunz, I think they'll do traditional stuff before moving on to 3D an MOVE - stuff about PSN and whatever's upcoming on there, not sure what - FF14, MAYBE versus, probably not - PS2 HD remakes - last guardian - psp2 - book it - regular psp price drop - 3D stuff, killzone, lpb2 - way too long move demo, consisting of mostly the same junk we saw from microsoft today - MEGATON FF7 remake --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |

oh geez, I guess it's not too surprising but Kinect games are going to be 60 bucks a pop http://vgtribune.com/kinect-games-are-fully-priced-at-60-available-for-pre-order/ --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |

From: KleenexTissue50 | #271 Pfft, you're not thinking BIG enough. We're at LEAST getting Super Mario Sunshine 3DS. --- Don't go forward without Sticky White Stuff. http://backloggery.com/herodeltiempo/sig.gif |
that's
probably the case, hopefully they realize that 300 for a console, 150
for kinect, and 60 for 1 game is asking for too much money --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
The first Last Guardian trailer almost had me in tears. Goosebumps were easy. If they give me a new trailer with a bit of gameplay, Sony is winning my vote. --- Realo |
Let's not forget that $150 isn't an official price yet either. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
Nintendo at noon, Sony at either 2:30 or 3. I bet they get delayed. should I make press conference topics tonight? --- xyzzy |
well it's better than the $190 rumour! --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
oh yeah, forgot to add something to my nintendo predix - new wiimote with WM+ tech built-in, to be bundled with new zelda --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
Nintendo
has no reason not to crush this, they have everything people want from
them. Microsoft and Sony are stuck in a position where they need to
work the mom market, Nintendo is now in a position where they need to
work the normal gamer market. And they're dropping yet another
handheld. Shooting fish in a barrel this year, and that's disregarding
the favor Nintendo gets for stuff like Pikmin/Metroid/Kirby, etc.
They're like the Independence Day alien ships shooting that blue death
ray onto the rest of E3. that might be overdoing it. lord, please let Zelda return to glory, amen --- measure twice, cut twice |
I really just hope someone makes a topic for M+ that's all I wanna see from nintendo oh yeah and Zelda Wii. --- Realo |
After
the Ubisoft confrence, my brain is telling me that Nintendo can do real
well and that Sony could fail as bad as MS did, but my gut is telling
me that Nintendo may repeat the patheticness of the last 2 years. --- From: Biolizard28 | Posted: 7/10/2009 8:57:29 PM | #010 Sometimes, a man needs his lolicon. |
yeah, that's the thing about Nintendo. they *should* do well but you can never predict what Nintendo is going to do. their press conference is two hours, way longer than their usual ones. they either have a lot to say about the 3ds and Zelda or they've got something else wild up their sleeves a la the vitality sensor or Wii Music. I expect the response to this one to be pretty fractured - if you look past the bad there'll be some good quality there, but the presentation could be brutal. I thought Nintendo had the best press conference last year because they unveiled NSMB Wii, Galaxy 2 and Other M, things we didn't know about that looked legitimately exciting. others thought it was the worst because they had that Vitality Sensor stuff, Wii Fit Plus and the Wii Sports Resort demos. we'll see. --- xyzzy |
are you gonna makes the topics tonight? so i can tag them --- ph33r teh masta~! |
I hope they learned from Wii Music I remember a while ago Iwata was asked about the failure of Wii Music and he responded with "Miyamoto is not a god", heh --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
Nintendo's conference last year was hilarious, but good. It was like a rollercoaster. Going by memory... started with NSMBWii, everyone was happy switched to Wii Fit or Wii Sports or both, everyone sighed switched back to Golden Sun DS and Kingdom Hearts DS, and everyone was pleased again and then my favourite part Iwata comes up, and shows up with the Vitality Sensor, maaajor "wtf" moment with everyone but 15 seconds after he mentions it, they bring up Metroid Other M, and Super Mario Galaxy 2 and we all go "**** yessss" --- your so damn ugly, Rice Krispies won't even talk to your sorry ass. |
Man
I'm so not interested in the everything-going-3d trend that we seem to
be getting started on. Mainly because it's still not really GOOD 3d. --- I made a living on time trial blowing myself off to cross the finish line at ludicrous speed. -transience |
Killzone
3D has been demoed and the results have been pretty negative. they
range from 'it hurts' to 'you have to sit in just the right spot' to
'yeah, it works but it doesn't improve the enjoyment' to 'THESE GLASSES
AUGH'. also, if they're making a 3d game, they have to compromise the
game in order to make sure it runs at a good framerate. this is definitely where Sony is going. they have an added investment in that they make 3d TVs, just like they had when they put blu-ray into the PS3. --- xyzzy |
3D
bothers me even more than the current motion control kick, just because
it doesn't seem that practical. At least motion control brings
something to the table in the form of new ways to play games. 3D - especially crappy stereoscopic 3D - doesn't really add anything to the experience. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
if they do a good job with 3D, it's going to be awesome --- measure twice, cut twice |
I'm
thinking I'll be fine with the 3DS's way of doing it requiring no
glasses. Of course I haven't seen it yet so I can't be too sure yet.
Anything else though no thx --- http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/4377/feelsgoodmanf.png http://card.mmos.com/psn/profile/ca/p/CaptainRockman/card.png |
yeah
3DS doesn't bother me. you can also turn the 3d off in the 3ds if you
want. this is true of Sony too but I get the feeling their games will
be centered around it more. --- xyzzy |
here's some concrete information on Castlevania HD http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/109/1097581p1.html We just played a couple games of Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, the new six-player Castlevania game coming to Xbox Live Arcade this summer. Harmony of Despair is a 2D side-scrolling Castlevania that looks quite similar to the post-Symphony of the Night games we've been playing on the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS for years. Apart from its looks, though, this is a pretty unique spin on the Castlevania formula. It's designed as a co-op game for up to six players that works like raids in World of Warcraft. Apart from its looks, though, this is a pretty unique spin on the Castlevania formula. It's designed as a co-op game for up to six players that works like raids in World of Warcraft. There are six levels, each guarded by a boss that must be hunted down and murdered. The maps are expansive, full of traps, shortcuts, and dead ends. Here's the thing: these levels and bosses are designed to be attempted many times over. Not only are the bosses powerful, but you only have 10 minutes to find them. You are more than likely to fail the first couple times you try. Luckily, you retain all the items and monies you collect on a "raid." So the formula goes: try a level, fail, buy and equip better items, and make it a little farther next time. You don't earn experience points and level up your character, but you are constantly finding new items and earning money that can buy you cool stuff. The next time you try that level, you'll be better equipped for it. The more players you have the easier it will be to complete each level, but you can always fly solo if that's more your style (or if you're just unpopular). Five characters are available to choose from, each pulled from a previous Castlevania game. Alucard, from Symphony of the Night, is bound to be a popular choice. Shanoa, from Order of Ecclesia, is another option I noticed. Each character behaves as they would in their own game. Shanoa, for instance, can use her magnetic abilities to cling to certain hooks in the environment and gain access to new areas. The character you choose will determine the path you take to the boss. But they all have the same core abilities like slide, double jump, and backwards dash. Yes, with only five characters, you will be playing with twins in a six-player game. On my first try playing level one I ran around looting treasure chests and slicing up familiar skeleton enemies (I was Alucard). But I ended up running into a dead end and time ran out before I could make it to the boss. On my second try I had a better idea of where to go and eventually came face to face with the guardian: a two-legged, no-armed behemoth that shoots a giant laser and sprays poisonous blood. There is a nice bit of foreshadowing in this level, as you can see the laser blast piercing through the halls of the castle long before you reach the boss. When you whittle the boss's health down enough the floor will cave in and you'll plummet to a platform below – where a mess of enemies await. The whole gang was too much for me to handle and I met my second demise. This is where more players would come in handy. It's also possible to make it to the monster party ahead of time and clear out the enemies so that when you fall down with the boss it doesn't have any henchmen left. To get your bearings and plan your route through a level, you can zoom way, way out. You'll be able to see all enemies and other players in the castle, but you're so small on the screen it's probably not possible to play this way. Each level will have a few special areas where you can switch your equipment, but you'll need to do it fast because the clock won't stop counting down. Enemies won't stand around waiting for you to finish, either. --- xyzzy |
Each character behaves as they would in their own game. This is good news, but some of this sounds kind of disappointing. Only 5 characters available when there's 6 players? And only 6 levels? Hopefully there's a bit more to this by the time it launches and this is just a demo build for E3. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
this
is seriously the laziest game ever made.. and yet I want to play it. I
was excited about the idea of co-op in Shadow Complex so I'm interested
in trying this out. Castlevania would be pretty addicting if you were
running through it raid style with a friend. I wouldn't want to do this
with too many people, but with one friend it would probably be pretty
fun. OOE convinced me that they were heading down the wrong path with the DSvanias so I'm glad to see this change. I don't want to see it more than once though. --- xyzzy |
I hope it doesn't cost $15 but I know it will. --- xyzzy |
