GameFAQs Contests
transience's video game topic -- soon to be an e3 megathread.

I
was thinking about OoE and decided that if they just put the whole
thing in one big castle like they were supposed to, rather than
breaking the thing up into small areas it would probably be the best CV
game. Gameplay-wise, I think I like the glyphs better than the Sorrow
games' souls. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
glyphs
were fine. dumbass fetch quests and uninspired maps weren't. reusing
the same sprites for a third game (and a fourth if you include SOTN) is
lazy. I also didn't like how strict the bosses were - that game felt
like memorization and pattern recognition instead of a fun action RPG.
it was just a little bit too difficult for a CV title. I don't mind
difficulty but I don't really play Castlevania for a high level of
challenge. I thought POR did it perfectly. --- xyzzy |
OoE isn't difficult after the 10th playthrough though :( |
I
really don't mind the recycling at all, that honestly never even
registered as a complaint in my mind until earlier when Repus was
complaining about it! It's lazy, sure, but I don't see it as a real
problem. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
i'm
in the same 'doesn't care about 3d' camp with everyon else, atleast in
the early going. it's going to take years before its a viable,
experience enhancing thing. disappointing thay sony is putting so much
emphasis on that, but ah well. as long as they have last guardian i'm
good. castlevania xbla sounds fun. nothing amazingly exciting, but much better than recent efforts. --- one generation plants the trees, another enjoys the shade |
that's right, even Pac-Man can be milked for minigames Pac-Man is throwing his own 30th birthday party. The first new Pac-Man game in five years —Pac-Man Party, due this fall for Nintendo Wii and set to be unveiled this week at the Electronic Entertainment Expo — has more than ghosts to keep him busy this time. The game has more than 45 mini-games that let Pac-Man take part in everything from curling and tennis to a king-of-the-mountain-style game and, of course, evading and chasing those pastel-colored ghosts Pinky, Blinky, Inky and Clyde. An overarching story mode lets you guide Pac-Man over a variety of locales (green meadow, desert, snowy mountains) laid out on a Monopoly-style game board. As the ghosts chase Pac-Man across the board, he dives in and out of the various games. The goal: Help Mr. Cookie save his secret recipe. Players also can go straight to whatever mini-game they choose. --- xyzzy |
From: transience | #307 They clearly forgot about Google Pac-Man. --- http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8840/crashsig.jpg Dr_Football's bracket was made with 23 flavors. |
Looks like we have Nintendo's MEGATON announcement early. --- http://i48.tinypic.com/2cgh5cj.jpg |
the hell They couldn't add one more character? seriously they have Alucard, Shanoa, Soma, uh.. Portrait of Ruin guy, and some girl I didn't immediately recognize. They couldn't add Simon or Richter or something? Come on. The first new Pac-Man game in five years uh Championship Edition was only three years ago way to know your series, guys --- For your health. At least Kupo has class and doesn't MESSAGE the people -Dr Pizza |
From: MoogleKupo141 | #310 What the hell, Soma Alucard and . . . Portrait of Ruin guy all play mostly the same. They could have used like Richter/Julius, Grant, Sypha, Simon . . . --- http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8840/crashsig.jpg Dr_Football's bracket was made with 23 flavors. |

you
know, I totally forgot two games that will be front and center at
Nintendo's conference: NBA Jam and Epic Mickey. I'll be interested to
see how those turn out. they could be big games or big jokes. --- xyzzy |
I
expect Nintendo to astound and Sony to do little better than Microsoft.
I could well be wrong, but that's my expectation right now. --- Final Fantasy XIII review: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/review/R140434.html You're pretty good, Dr_Football. |
The
Summer of XBLA lineup has some great-looking stuff, to be sure, but
whatever happened to that "Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet" game? Still
a work in progress? It, Dust, and Limbo all give me that "wow, thank
the gaming gods that there's such an accessible marketplace for
talented indie developers" vibe. --- Monster-in-a-box |
oh GOD those CV: HoD screens were REAL. IGAvania rehashes once again I'm still buying it of course. Alucard aaaaaall day son. --- "You brought your *****, to the waffle hut?" |
Why are people complaining about reusing sprites? They looked gorgeous then, they still look gorgeous now. --- The Temple of Kraden, a forum for fans of Golden Sun: http://z9.invisionfree.com/The_Temple_of_Kraden/index.php?act=site |
I've been thinking about ITSP over the last 24 hours. I'm hoping it shows up at e3. the floor opens at 3pm EST so maybe we'll hear something today. --- xyzzy |

Nintendo - Zelda Skyward Sword - motion control-heavy, looks like TP graphically, did *not* demo well, 2011 (take that HM) - Mario Sports Mix - like Wii Sports with Mario characters, basically, 2011 - Just Dance 2, 2010 - Golden Sun DS, 2010 - Goldeneye Wii confirmed, 2010 - Epic Mickey, looks like a combination of lots of Mario games, TBA - Kirby: Epic Yarn for Wii, 2d, fall 2010 - Dragon Quest 9 - Metroid: Other M - Donkey Kong Country Returns, Retro Studios, 2d, fall 2010 - 3DS - analog stick, motion sensors, 3d pictures, movie playback, no price or date announced - KID ICARUS: UPRISING FOR 3DS - Nintendogs AND CATS for 3ds - 3ds third party games announced - from memory, MGS, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, Saints Row (haha), Ninja Gaiden, DJ Hero 3d, more that was pretty awesome, all told. can't believe Kid Icarus is the 3ds headliner. that's insane. --- xyzzy |
A
huge lineup and they were smart to keep the vitality sensor off the
stage. Wow, just a staggering lineup. Then again the only one I cared
about seems to be the biggest letdown :\ so I'm pretty happy for the
Nintendo crowd but really wishing they'd knock it off with the Zelda
franchise --- Donny: Are they gonna hurt us, Walter? Walter: No, Donny. These men are cowards. |
I'll wait for hands-on reactions for Zelda. The graphics look good; I have no problem with that, but those damned controls... --- Yoblazer: http://i29.tinypic.com/dqhyf5.jpg Watch and you'll see... some day I'll be... part of your world! |

The
Pac-Man party continues as Namco Bandai has announced a followup to
2007's excellent Pac-Man Championship Edition: simply, Pac-Man
Championship Edition DX. The so-called sequel will launch on Xbox Live
Arcade and PlayStation Network this fall, adding new mazes, modes and
enhancements to the CE formula. In fact, DX sounds seriously "deluxe," expanding the original Championship Edition's six mazes to "more than 100 varied and mind-boggling" courses, according to Namco Bandai. Additionally, new modes will include Time Attack Mode, an objective-based Mission Mode and the (devour) Ghost Mode. We'll look to gobble up more details at Namco Bandai's Pac-Man birthday event tonight. (Old Yellow's turning 30!) --- xyzzy |

Siliconera reports on the 3ds: At the Nintendo press conference I got to spend a little time with the Nintendo 3DS. By little I mean a minute. No games were playable. Instead we saw moving screenshots, like 3d animated GIFs, you can toggle with the depth slider. There were five quick demos: Pikmin, New Super Mario Bros., Metroid, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Zelda. The Zelda screen was the most impressive. Particles that popped out of the screen were flying in the background and sparks flew off Link’s sword. In the New Super Mario Bros. demo the characters were in front of the background. When you turn the slider down the image becomes a regular 3D screenshot. In the Super Mario Galaxy 2 demo I turned the depth to half which, as exepected, lowered 3D effect. The distance Yoshi leaped out of the screen was barely notciable at 3/4 down. I also tried tilting the 3DS and the image remained in 3D. It took a second to adjust, but it wasn’t laggy like Looksey’s Line Up. The slide pad was used to rotate the image. The depth effect felt like a hologram and while I didn’t play anything the hardware makes a good first impression. --- xyzzy |
From: transience Woah, yes! Finally! I've been waiting for a Kid Icarus sequel since the Super NES! We've only gone what, 6 Nintendo systems without a Kid Icarus game? Now we just need Pilotwings Wii. --- "Congratulations Thomas and Sylvia! But their happiness does not continue long..." |
