there's a lot of ports there. I dunno, the screenshots and info on the games aren't really doing it for me that much. yeah, it's good stuff, but I don't think it's amazing. I'm all about Kid Icarus but I don't care about the other Nintendo stuff all that much.

Now we just need Pilotwings Wii.

Pilotwings 3DS is happening.

Well, that's better than nothing... Pilotwings belongs on a big screen, though.

It's okay to embrace some motion controls, guys. Shaking a little to slam the ground isn't going to be bad at all and is pretty reasonable. I wouldn't think slamming the ground will be a particularly big thing in the game anyway.

It does suck that classic controls for a DKC-game aren't announced (yet?), but something like that for motion controls doesn't scare me a bit.

I don't mind motion controls but I'd want it to be more like NSMB Wii where you just play with the wii remote. nunchuk in a 2d game? why?

Fair enough, but I'm cool with the Nunchuk anyway. Wiimote-only would probably be best for pure 2D, but I'll give them time to justify the choice of joystick.

whoa, the 3ds support / lineup is amazing. that's definitely the highlight of the nintendo conference. sony need not even bother with a psp2 after that -- nintendo has wrapped that up before it began.

most interesting new game is donkey kong by retro. did we get any info about that one?

also, zelda looking like tp visually is disappointing.

DKC Returns

Retro Studios faithfully restores everything that made the original series great, from barrel cannons to mine carts, and then builds on those elements with stunning graphics and new layers of depth to the world and game play. The game offers the traditional side-scrolling experience everyone loved, but with levels created in fully rendered 3-D environments.

Diddy Kong™ joins the quest. With his trusty backpack, he can produce a jet pack or Peanut Pop Guns to give Donkey Kong more abilities.

For the first time ever, the franchise features the ability for two people to play together at the same time (additional accessories required and are sold separately) - one as Donkey Kong, one as Diddy Kong. Players can navigate the levels separately or as one unit. Diddy Kong can ride on Donkey Kong's back and hop off whenever he pleases, allowing novice players to ride on Donkey Kong's back through more challenging areas of the game.

Hidden items, puzzle pieces and other surprises are found all through the jungle. Spell out K-O-N-G by the end of each level to earn an extra bonus.

Motion controls give players a real feeling of control. Players move Donkey Kong using the Control Stick on the Nunchuk™ controller and can shake the Wii Remote™ controller to make Donkey Kong slap the ground.

Vibrant colors, beautiful graphics and fun characters draw players in. Even people who have never played a Donkey Kong game before can pick up a controller and start collecting loads of bananas.

Every level offers new fun and new challenges. Sometimes Donkey Kong is running through the jungle, sometimes his action takes place on a tropical beach and other times he must become a master of timing as he jumps chasms in a mine cart.

At least, I hope not. There's a ton of remakes/ports confirmed for 3DS already.

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn

A classic role-playing game branches out with a new look, countless
adventures and heroic battles. The game picks up 30 years after the first two
games in the series left off. At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the
heroes succeeded in bringing the world-healing power of the Golden Sun back
to the world of Weyard. In the years since, the immense power of the Golden
Sun has changed nearly everything. Continents have shifted. New countries
have emerged. New species have appeared. But the world is now imperiled by
a new threat. Psynergy Vortexes, which suck the elemental Psynergy from
both the land and power-wielding Adepts alike, are spreading across the world.
The new generation of heroes – the children of those from the previous games
– are drawn into the mystery behind the vortexes, as they cross a chaotic world
that is succumbing to a new evil."

"FEATURES:
• Amazing graphics and beautifully animated summoning abilities that span both
Nintendo DS screens let players experience the game like never before.
• The story takes place 30 years after the final events of the second game, when the
Golden Sun Effect occurred. The main characters are the descendents of the
previous game’s heroes.
• Intuitive touch-screen control has been implemented throughout the game, controlling
character movements and the release of Psynergy – magical abilities with powerful
effects over people and the environment. Touch control also streamlines battle
commands and gives players a stronger tactile connection to the action on the
screen.
• Players will explore a vast and beautifully rendered world where they will find many
treasures, encounter dangerous creatures and manipulate objects blocking their
path. Players will also hunt for and collect Djinn, mysterious elemental creatures used
to summon powerful spirits in battle."

Sony

- talking up 3d PSN titles - SSHD, Pain, Wipeout HD, etc
- Killzone 3, February 2011, Move-compatible
- GT5 - 3d
- Move -- September 2010, $49.99, $29 for the 'nunchuk', $99 for both + a sports game, PS3 + Move Bundle for $399, games for $39.99.
- demoing a game called Sorcery which is a dungeon crawler-y thing with harry potter vibes. seems competent enough though I don't see how Move adds to it. Spring 2011.
- Tiger Woods 2k11 with Move - the guy messes up a lot because it's real 1:1 and therefore hard. people want to be good at games, not fail miserably.
- Heroes on the Move - Ratchet, Jak, Sly all mixed into a game with Move control
- PSP - new marketing campaign announced. it's about damn time they paid attention to it again. where was this the last two years?
- INVIZIMALS - camera peripheral with the game coming for the PSP. guessing this is an attempt to fight piracy.
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta - teaser trailer, no gameplay
- PSP montage. includes THIRD BIRTHDAY HOLY CRAP
- The Tester Season 2 coming hahahaha
- LBP2 - showing off the different kinds of games. a twitch button pressing game, a bumper car game, a 2d deathmatch type of game. other developers were given the game and 24 hours and created some RTS games and shooter games. it looks pretty minigame-ish but you can definitely do something with it.
- Playstation+ - premium service for online. early demos and betas, free psn games and psp minis. 3 months - 17.99; 12 months, 49.99. basically, same price as xbox live gold. first month has a free copy of Wipeout HD and a bunch of DLC.
- "you'll have this content for the duration of your subscription', meaning that if you stop subscribing you lose it all. wow. wow. wow.
- Medal of Honor - this was already demoed at EA's conference. UNLOCKABLE BEARDS. exclusive content coming to PSN. take that, Microsoft and your timed DLC for Call of Duty!
- Dead Space 2 - we saw this at EA too. showing a boss fight this time - your standard epic battle with huge setpieces and all that. looks good. a Dead Space 1 w/move support + Dead Space 2 bundle is announced.
- Glados voice. Gabe Newell walks out to huge applause. Gabe's well-known for dissing the PS3 so him being here is pretty huge. Portal 2 announced for PS3, said to integrate with Steam and will be 'the best console version'.
- Portal 2 trailer. "I think we can put our differences behind us. for science. you monster" nothing particularly new looking there, but that quote got me really excited. not sure why.
- FF14. lots of nostalgia thanks to the Prologue playing in the background. tough to say much else.
- Mafia 2, free exclusive DLC yada yada
- AC Brotherhood, exclusive beta for PS3, trailer
- GT5 again - trailer, dated for November 2010
- Infamous 2 trailer, 2011
- Twisted Metal announced, gameplay demo. not sure why this is ending the show -- I guess this is what happens when you don't have anything else to announce.

no Last Guardian? what the hell, it didn't even make a montage. Sony started slow and had some nice stuff for the second half, though nothing new to announce besides Twisted Metal.

I haven't seen everything, but here's what I've liked so far, in order:

1. Gears 3, good gameplay, Lambent Berserker is going to be intense with 4 people on harder difficulties, that whole sequence looks like a blast.

2. Kid Icarus Uprising, I'm not sure I want to spend money on another handheld, but that really looked good

3. Zelda Skyward Sausage, the Kotaku thing has me on board

4. Metal Gear Rising, I had no idea this was supposed to be so awesome. I hope there's a tranq gun in the game so I can cut it to pieces

5. Fable III, this is my most anticipated game, not a great trailer, no info, they don't want Molyneux to say anything, too bad

6. Black Ops, on the fence about picking it up, but the Hind scene was sweet

Then there's stuff that is already a known quantity like VC2, GT5, or AC:B

Then there's stuff like Infamous 2 (first one is only OK) that is nice to see but whatever

DKC4 I'm worried about the control scheme

so plenty of stuff for me to be excited about here
