Luis Sera: where've you been? you seem to be just doing the fodder thing right now, and before that I didn't see you for a number of months.

Well I was here during contest season, I suppose my posts were mostly limited to contest related topics rather your usual off season kind of things. I'm making more of an effort to be more active this year though, and after the Fodder Contest finishes in a week or so, I'm thinking of starting a new bigger scale board project.

From trannyscience
Harmonica: what's disappointing about KH2? I don't like the original nor have I played 2, so I don't really know. is it, uh, 7.6-worthy? (ducks)

I think I was most disappointed by the story. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories had a good, well-paced story and great characters. I expected to see more of the same in KH2, but most of the story was told in the beginning and the end, with tons of what people like to call "Disney filler" in the middle. The story felt rushed because most of it was crammed into the last 2-3 hours of the game, and some of the plot twists felt like lame deus ex machinas. The characters were bad compared to Chain of Memories, especially Organization XIII was meh. The main villain was actually lamer than Ansem, if you can imagine it.

Gameplay-wise, the game was way too easy. On KH1's expert difficulty some of the normal enemies in the first world could kill me; On KH2's proud difficulty I only had trouble with some bosses. I also missed some enemies from KH1 and thought most of the mew heartless were lame.

I don't think the game deserves a 7.6, but if I turn my fanboy mode off, I can definitely see why someone would give the game that score.

I'll take another if you have it.

And to add to my original answer: I would also say thank you for the free PS3... because I'm polite. Then I'd leave it in its box until FFXIII.

The Amazing Race is my personal favorite, although it's not nearly as good as it used to be. >_>

The BEST show, however, is still 24. Even with its ludicrous plotlines, it's always entertaining and brilliant.

how's your girlfriend, who's cooler than you because she puts Moon Safari in her top 10?

She's doing well. I showed her Little Miss Sunshine, and she loved both the movie and the soundtrack, so now she's getting into all the artists who were on that. Moon Safari is growing on me! On an unrelated note, she hinted to me that she'd like me to go to college with her in some foreign country and I was like "WHOOOOOOOA HOLD ON THERE BABY"

oh man if i called my wang little miss sunshine that post would have been pretty hilarious

It's my new main mostly because it has the most karma and it will be until either A.) I get axed again (likely) or B.) Super Destroy gets to 75 karma (unlikely). As for the name, I can't make accounts on my usermap and when I decided to come back I needed an account. I dare not say anymore because I want to avoid option A.) above >_>. "what do you think is the single most important website on the internet?"

uhh... important hmm? For me its probably a tie between this and Youtube, but that's not important for most people. I suppose some News site or something like that would interest people much more, something like CNN or something. It's hard to rate "importance" importance by what? number of people that go there? Quality of content? Whatever the requirement, there's so many, it's just impossible to say, except at a personal level.

Lady Ashe: why do you take such interest in characters you don't know at all?

Heh. I find that question rather amusing. This account was made when it was so that nobody else could beat me to it. I saw Ashe's character design, and figured she might be able to give Yunie a scare when it comes to best character ever. Rinoa? I seem to recall seeing a dancing scene or something like that and again, it looks like I'll like her a lot if I ever play the damn game.

I think I just have a thing for female FF leads: Terra/Celes, Yuffie, possibly Rinoa, Yuna, and Ashe. >_>

Midget jig, not a dance. And a merry one at that. All over my living room. My dog gave my a "WTF?" look and ran into the kitchen out of shock and awe.

Redtooth:

favourite NES game?

That's quite a tough one...There were quite a few amazing games. Contra, duck hunt, SMB3 and ninja gaiden are all games I've never stopped playing since I got them.

But I think Blades of Steel would have to be my all time favorite. We managed to get an NES in our room, and we have weekend tournaments of that game.

What's yours?

BLADES. OF STEEL. I liked Blades of Steel back when, though I haven't played it since the early 90's or something. mine has been Final Fantasy since the day it was released. Contra would be a close runner up.

what about SNES?

Damn it all I don't have an absolute favorite movie.

I really liked... what , the original 70s Texas chainsaw massacre.

oh man, i could never watch those. the previews for the new one made me go "uhh... i'll pass", and though i'm sure the old ones are a lot different, i'm also sure it wouldn't be my thing.

how about.. favourite contest match this year?

Moogs:

I keep it in its box until FFXIII comes out, probably.

you wouldn't try out a blu-ray disc? or rent a game? you aren't curious about what 599 US DOLLARS will look like?

...I'm really not either, but I'd at least take it out of the box.

Tirofog:

No, no I can't.

yeah, I can't do a cartwheel either. I probably could if I didn't have such a weird fear of heights and falling -- putting my legs over my head like that just ain't gonna happen. about five years ago, my best friend was like 'I can do a cartwheel', and a bunch of my friends were like 'prove it'. so he tries, gets about halfway and faceplants into concrete. he remains adamant that he can do one until he fails five more times and ends up hurting his wrist. I love my best friend. that was hilarious.

anyway, what's your favourite thing at a playground? swings, slide, monkey bars, etc..?

Taslion

Favorite username, huh..

I'd say mershiness. Reminds me of marshmellows.

Mershiness, eh? that one just blends into the background for me, maybe because I don't know the user. I think my fave is Drakeryn for some reason.

how's the LUEshi thing going? is it still going?

I dunno, maybe I'd try Resistence, but that's the only thing in the reasonably near future that I'm at all interested in. I really have no use for the blu-ray movie playing, as I've got way too many DVDs I haven't even watched yet. I still have like 20 episodes each of the Batman animated series and the Super Mario Bros. Super Show that I haven't watched, and some movies too.

is board life different for you after the stunt you pulled with your account?

A little bit, I've been making more of an effort to piss people off, if I was going to be honest. In terms of how people treat me? Not really. I get more anti-votes in popularity contests, and some people have taken to mocking me now and then with a new fat joke or two (I've heard them all 4 years ago ironically) nothing has changed at all. My friends are still my friends, dumbasses are still dumbasses, and I am still awesome, just with 1000 less karma or so.

Ocelot:

Ocelot: have you seen Requiem for a Dream? if not, you should!

I have, excellent film but a bit too strong and depressing for my tastes. Have you seen a Sam Peckinpah movie? If not you should!!!

Requiem, depressing? yeah probably, but I like depressing things. call me emo or something. I find it as more of a mind trip than I do depressing, anyway, and that's why it's pure awesome.

*hits imdb* no, definitely not. I'm not a movie person in general, and I doubt I've seen 20 movies from 1975 or before.

how was your New Year's?

RayDyn:

have you tried playing it in the last few years? do you still enjoy the insane amount of grinding required to gain levels?

I played last week actually. I'm not extremely fond of the grinding but some other RPGs are just as bad so it's not that big a deal to me.

I dare you to name me two RPGs that are "just as bad" as DW1. I mean, there's grinding and then there's what you do in DW1. I do love the game, it's classic to me, every monster, item and location, but god damn is that some grinding.

what other RPGs are "classic" to you? for me, it's DW1, FF1, and for some weird reason, Xenogears.

Rocktillery: I see you've got some user contest going on. what's up with some of those categories -- "ability, speed, literacy"? how are you going to measure those?

thelefty: you and I are way different - I naturally function in 2d, so 3d completely messes me up. it's why I never bought a 64, why I have no interest in next-gen and why I mostly play RPGs these days. and also why the DS is my favourite system at the moment.

what kind of 2d games do you like?

Metroid Fusion, huh? are you enjoying it? most people hate on its annoying linearity in a nonlinear setting, but I think it's a decent game.

It's been kinda fun so far, but I really miss the sense of freedom other Metroid games gave me. That and being forced to skip over walls of text when playing a Metroid game is annoying... and what's up with bosses turning into useless blob things that are all the same and very boring to fight? x_X

I didn't notice this until now. I don't dislike any of the Puppy albums I've heard (which isn't everything, have yet to bite into Remission). Amongst others although Ed quoting me helped bring that particular instance to other peoples attention. I tend to only come out of lurking mode if something mildly annoys me (occurs less frequently than you would think), to analyze competitions (a la UUL and guest write-ups) and then just for a few random posts when I'm bored.

I have actively been trying to integrate myself into Board 8 recently after lurking for a ridiculous amount of time. It seems to be working and I'm enjoying it more than I was lurking so we'll see how things go. PO and I used to have conversations, but since I'm so "high-profile" here most people think I'm just there to troll or something. and they held me out of one of their elections, despite choco and I being a team! oh that could have been fun.

I've always felt that POTD was a bit... elitist. it seems like you have to be there for months for anyone to care about what you post. I can go to CE or RI and just blend in, but with POTD you have to be known or else no one pays attention to you. maybe that's just me, I dunno. then there's things like Paradiso where a lot of POTDers have retreated to. I actually do like the place, it's just that it comes off as a very closed community.

Lucid:

7. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
5. Trauma Center: Second Opinion

hey cool, my game of the year at #7. what'd you think of it compared to other Castlevania titles? personally it's my favourite of all of them, a nice mix of classic and new, with some fun bosses.

also, I've seen you praise Trauma Center on several occasions, so I thought it'd be higher. I've been thinking about the DS version -- recommended? mind you, I have horrible hand control (I can't write very well) and am left handed.

DSRage: I'm pretty sure you just recommended me the entire Pokemon library. oh well!

hmm.. what's so great about Star Ocean 3?

Mega Mana: I feel so left out when it comes to Pokemon.. like a lot of people a few years younger than me spent years playing Pokemon and share that bond that I'm just completely oblivious to. you could probably make stupid corny Pokemon jokes and I'd be like "uhh..."

what's the last game you beat? I don't know if I've ever seen you even mention a video game.

Xtremeblur:

Yeah, that definitely comes out fanboyish, but I stick by it. I loved my PS2, don't get me wrong, but it annoys the hell out of me how many garbage titles there were available for it. But, it's inevitable that a huge library will have plenty of crap titles, especially when it's on such a popular system. It's easy money afterall, and people these days actually buy that crap. I'm obviously exaggerating with numbers though, but it really is probably around 95%.

of course it's going to have some crap, it's got a massive library. this is true of all systems, though the bigger the library the more likely you're going to have a bunch of crap filler. doesn't change the fact that the PS2 had some awesome games, a lot more than the Gamecube. (though I will freely admit that I prefer GC action games for whatever reason)

what system do you think had the best library ever? I never have a good answer for this myself.

SEP:

And in a very rare moment of absolute honesty to the most serious degree, I find cartoon pornography to be extremely... Not right. People usually turn to cartoon pornography because something in them doesn't find the real thing to be enough for them, so they turn to artistic renditions that show the people to be more perfect and ideal then you'll ever find in real life. I don't find that natural in the least.

And as for child cartoon pornography? Sicked **** ever, and I personally think people that go for it are messed up.

see, I don't differentiate - what's the difference between getting off on cartoon 16 year olds and getting off on cartoon 8 year olds? once you cross that barrier, you might as well go all the way. to me it's deviant no matter what it is -- foxes, babies with six heads, three-nutted vampires with no ears, who cares!

what are you in school for?

Work. I was working 5 days a week, about 7 hours a day. The only time I could get on the computer would be like 11-Midnight, and I'm always dead tired by then.

But then the Holidays ended, and now I'm only getting like 2 shifts a week.

what do you do? (if you can tell me!) also, what are you in grad school for, engineering still?

Well, in simplified terms, we deliver training devices to the fleet. In my case, for my specific project we're responsible for delivering high fidelity helicopter simulators to the fleet. There's a lot more to it, but the end product is the Navy getting helicopter simulators. Basically, we do multi-million dollar video games for the fleet. :)

As for grad school... yeah, I'm still in engineering. I switched it up though. Before I got this job, I was going to go for my masters in Electrical Engineering (my undergrad was a double major in Electrical and Computer Engineering). But since I got this job, I decided to tailor my degree a little bit. I switched to a Masters in Interactive Simulation & Training Systems (under Industrial Engineering). Something new, plus I get to throw in management classes that come with Industrial Engineering instead of sticking to purely technical like I would in Electrical Engineering. Since I'm dealing with more project engineering rather than design, that program would be better for me. More promotion potential!

I know this all just went over your head, right? <_<;

leadrboardsteve: golfing, huh? I've played 27 holes of golf in my life and everyone of them were bloody miserable.

do you like mini-golf? cause I can rock that ****!

Yeah, mini-golf is the ****. You can take all your friends, its much cheaper, doesn't take anywhere near as long, and if you get a hole-in-one on the 18th you get a free game afterwards (at most places).

rank these cool abilities in terms of how much you'd want to be able to do them:

floating / flying
teleporting
invisibility
the ability to set people on fire
the ability to pull your head off and put it back on
telepathy
telekinesis
mindreading

Telepathy and mindreading are pretty much the same for me (mindreading being an aspect of telepathy), so I'll lump them together. Let's see...

1. Teleporting.
Seriously, who doesn't want this ability? To be able to snap your fingers or wiggle your tummy or whatever and just pop up wherever you damn well please would be friggin' awesome.

2. Telekinesis
Always used to be my favorite aspect of the Force (besides all the spiritual and ethical stuff, I mean). I always used to be convinced that, if I worked hard enough, I could life all kinds of crap with my mind; I read a similar story by Roald Dahl when I was a kid and I think the idea struck. It would be just a really cool way of controlling and interacting with my environment.

3. Telepathy/Mindreading

Most useful for me in terms of being a psychologist, that's for durn sure, but it could get a bit... messy. Besides, there's some things I'd just rather not know. Still, the ability to influence and be attuned to others' thoughts has always appealed to the control freak in me.

4. Invisibility
Mostly so I could be naked in public. >_>' But also eavesdrop on people, be places I'm not supposed to be... naked, of course.

5. Doing the Albedo
So long as it wasn't messy and/or painful, it would be a cool party trick and somewhat fun to see what my body looks like from a different perspective. If I also ever wanted to fellate myself, this would assuredly be the way to go. The downside would be if others could remove my head, either through kicking or yanking or whatnot.

6. Pyromania
I've always been fascinated by flame, but I'm too nice of a person to ever set people on fire. Now, the ability to spontaneously generate heat or set objects on fire, like what the Human Torch does, that'd be cool.

7. Flight
I'm afraid of heights. Besides, who needs flight when you can teleport? =P

Crono: I had long hair for.. nine years, then one day just shaved my head and have done so ever since. for me it has nothing to do with how sexy my head is, it's just a ton easier to not have any hair.

what games do you like? I'm trying to think and nothing comes to mind.. maybe rhythm games?

Steiner: oh man, I could never listen to songs in alphabetical order like that. that would be such a disaster with the 4500 songs on my ipod at the moment. I just like the ways that albums flow, I'm a bit obsessed with that.

give me your opinion on these videos:

Air - Kelly Watch the Stars - http://youtube.com/watch?v=iV_oBB1iQQk
Prick - Animal - http://youtube.com/watch?v=ppCyIdkoXGk
Venetian Snares - Szamar Madar - http://youtube.com/watch?v=8rjyVF6a4xo
Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy - http://youtube.com/watch?v=5Az_7U0-cK0

ExTha: Twilight Princess or FF7? I demand reasons.

Joshua: are you back in full force now? if so, why aren't you on aim HUH

Heri something or other: nope, no idea. hmm, about what percentage of the Duck Tales song do you know by heart?

OH NO YOU DIDN'!
It's fun... especially when you dress like a pirate... TO SCHOOL. Yes I did go there. In my Pirate costume!!

Tetris isn't perfect, but it's darn good. It's almost the perfect timekiller, but it is possible to grow bored of it
