So, should I come out of the closet yet?

Ok, I think things have gotten slightly out of hand.

My roommate takes me completely for granted, leaving piles f dirty dishes around, and then complaining that I haven't done them for him. Householdy things of that nature. So, I decided to teach him a lesson...sort of. I left a note on my bedroom door, like I always do when I go out, just to be courteous, stating "Later, Andy. Maybe i'll come back someday."

Then...I got in the closet. Literally. I've got a quilt layed out on the floor of the closet to make it a little more comfortable, and I store things that I use for entertainment in the pockets of one of the jackets hanging above me. Plus, I've got my laptop and wi-fi internet. Contact in a Nintendo DS keeps me entertained, as does Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Abridged Series on a video iPod.

So...yeah. I've been in here for 36 or 37 hours now. I sprint to the bathroom whenever he goes out for a few minutes, and I survive nutritionally on bottles of water I grabbed from our fridge. So, since he doesn't know i'm home, he doesn't bother closing his door or hushing his voice when he's on the phone. He has some...interesting conversations. Notably, I've learned that he's not worried i'm missing for my safety - rather, he's worried I won't be here to pay my half of the monthly rent.

Think i've tormented him enough? (If at ALL, from what it sounds like.)
So, is it time for me to come out of the closet and "come home" yet?

[P.S. Yes, I realize what the topic title implies. Thank you.]

I grabbed some corn chips last night when he took the trash out.

Besides that - just water for me.
Normally, i'd only bother to stay in hiding when he's HOME. Lucky me! He's been staying home from school and work because he's not feeling well, and I don't think he's gonna be going in tomorrow, either. I hear he's going out to dinner with his boyfriend tonight, though. So, i'll get some "time off" then, at least. Hopefully they're going to eat fairly early. ... I'm getting cramped.

Nope. No school until spring semester, and I just moved here a few weeks ago, and don't have a job yet.

And no, he has no reason to open the closet i'm in. I'm in my own bedroom. We have our own rooms.

I have the remote to my Media Center desktop, and if I angle it just right, I can control that computer from in here.

When he goes out to dinner, i'm gonna make a short movie in Windows Movie Maker that's just big text saying "Hello, Andy. Why are you in my room?" with creepy music. Then, i'll play a random video or something loudly, and he'll come in to turn the volume doen, i'd imagine. Once he's in the room, i'll switch to the "Scare Tactic" video.

Also, plug his computer into a remote-controlled power strip, so that you can just press the button on the remote at random intervals during homework, etc.

...or you can plug his phone into the said power strip... so many options.
leadrboardsteve | Posted 10/25/2006 4:44:49 PM | message detail | #026
Start out slower, like leaving some of his things in a slightly different way then when he left, and slowly build up to a big scare.

Listen to the Squirl with the big hair.

When he goes out next, go into his room and start taking things. Small things, of course, but things that he might need (i.e. calculator, pencils, books, tv remote, etc.)

Also, try to rig it so you can control his stuff from your room like A.S. suggested. Major laughs...

After a while, once he starts to notice things disappearing, you have to do something major. Go and take his TV. Unhook it and move it into the kitchen on the floor or counter. We'll see how long he stays calm then.

No car, so that's fine.

And I can't call him. I left my cell phone on the kitchen counter, and I keep using text2day.com to send it text messages like "Hello, Andy" and "You're not James... Why do you have this phone?" That, and I made sure my text ringtone is REALLY long. ... REALLY long. 6 minutes and 47 seconds long.
