UPDATE!

Well, it's over, pretty much. I came home to find that Andy hadn't brought just his Aunt over, but his dad, too. We had a long talk about..."responsibility." ... Trust me, that's NOT pleasant. Apparently they called my mom, too, but she kinda passed everything off with a laugh and a "You know you can always come home if you need to."

Ah, maternal love. The bane of underage drinking, but the boon of practical jokery.

But, yeah...Apparently Andy took the "Maybe I'll show up dead somewhere" part of my note *pretty* seriously. Just before he got freaked out enough to leave the apartment for good, he had deduced that I *was* in fact somewhere inside. He didn't come looking because he was afraid he'd find a corpse.

Man, it hard to keep a straight face as I type this.

I almost feel bad for the kid. Almost.

Izzyzy | Posted 10/26/2006 9:31:34 PM | message detail | #222
Well, apparently, I *HAD* fallen into a trap of his, albeit without knowing it.

I still had the "Don't find me, I might be a bloody corpse!" card in my hand, though.

The last time he left and returned, he'd folded an index card under the outside of the front door in a way that it would fall behind the door if the door way opened. Therefore, when he came home to find the kitchen tables moved, but the card still intact, he knew that, at least for the moment, I was SOMEWHERE in the apartment.

I gotta say, though. His searching is VERY lax. I heard him check the broom closet downstairs at least twice yesterday, but his entire scan of my bedroom consisted of him sticking his head in the door and taking a quick look around. I guess he figured there was no way I could fit in that closet. My aching back says otherwise.

Come to think of it, I've still got strawberry soda in there...

So yeah, in the end, the joke was slightly on me, but at least i have the satisfaction of knowing that I psychologically scarred a total jerk, and made his family stand up and see his jerk-ish ways.

Yep. Just woke up this morning, showered, cleaned the apartment to a sparkle, and took off for a few hours.

The deal is sweetened by the fact that Andy had NO idea I had a heads-up his family was coming home with him, so I cleaned the closet just in case, did dishes, took out the garbage... Basically, I housemaided the apartment until it was PERFECT. Then, erased my pranks and notes to him, before I hung out and did some shopping in town.

When the family came home, instead of the hellhole that Andy had no doubt been telling them he was forced to live in because of little ol' me, they found a spotless apartment (with a clean minty smell,) and a concerned note on my bedroom door reading "You didn't come home last night, man. I'm worried about you. Went to the mall, give me a call so I know you're ok. -James"

End too badly?

It ended GREATLY!

Andy's family thinks hes an over dramatic, jealous slob.
I came off looking like a perfectly reasonable kid who probably should have told Andy where I was going.

That, and Andy knows I totally have his number.
I really don't think he's gonna mess with me anymore.

He was in the room while I talked with his mom and aunt. Near the end of the conversation, every time I glanced at him, I can honestly say I saw pure horror in his eyes. And, maybe a little bit of fear.

Izzyzy > all. This whole thing has been great; I'm glad to see you ended it well. Definitely keep up the chair thing, and others like it, if you can keep them up while you're not there it's even better.

Exactly how much did various people find out though? Did they figure out you were in the closet, or simply assume that you were at a friend's and just coming back to pull the pranks?

-----------------------------------
Redundancy is repetitive.
See above.
Izzyzy | Posted 10/26/2006 10:58:49 PM | message detail | #247
Like I said, I haven't told ANYONE anything past that I moved the chairs. My story, and i'm sticking to it, is that I went and stayed at the dorms of the college Andy attends. It's not too much of a stretch of imagination for me to know people there that Andy wouldn't since it's a big school.

Beyond that, Andy figured out that I was somewhere in the apartment about 20 minutes before he left for the final time last night. However, he took the "Maybe i'll turn up dead" line in my note so seriously, that he was actually afraid to search the apartment - or even stay the night in it - thinking I might have hidden somewhere in the apartment and proceeded to kill myself.

I got off on my roommates fear of discovering corpses, apparently,
