also known as my quest to blow Heroic Mario out of the water when it comes to Shadow Hearts fanboyism aw yeah I'm really not that big on video game characters - it took me like 30 minutes to even decide who my favourite video game character was, and then another 30 minutes to even come up with 25 that I really liked. I've never tried to make a character list before and would never have even thought of trying without the help of this board. but eh, I love to make lists, so here's a horribly flawed, not very diverse, poorly thought out list! I have fairly shallow tastes and low standards, so don't expect much in the writeup department. "lol sonic runs fast and has cool shoes #5 aw yeah" --- xyzzy "Created by Warren Robinett." |

#25: Miguel (Chrono Cross) Miguel's got a grand total of like two scenes and one fight. he's really not even an important character afterwards, and he's probably pretty forgettable. hell, this is the entirety of his "character" - http://youtube.com/watch?v=4foetX8zbnk (Chrono Cross spoilers I guess) but man, this is such an awesome part of the game. completely awesome atmosphere, mostly due to his awesome theme. Miguel's theme, or People Seized With Life (or whatever weird translation everyone else has) is definitely my favourite song on an awesome soundtrack. this fight is also really memorable to me because I died on this thing a dozen or so times because I only had two healing elements and Miguel was the opposite element to two of the three characters I was using. I didn't mind, though, because I just love the scene that much. as for the character himself - who knows, and who cares? I always love it when I see his character portrait because I know Awesome Stuff is about to happen, and that's worth more than development in my book. --- xyzzy *waits patiently for CJayC to announce a Game Contest* |

#24: Meredy (Tales of Eternia) Meredy makes my list for just one reason: her voice. it's the weirdest thing I've ever heard, it sounds like a cross between an schoolgirl, an alien and a 6 year old. youtube doesn't have any good clips of it for some reason, so this stupid video someone made will have to do: http://youtube.com/watch?v=rT3HfdAxFG8 Meredy acts like a child and is incredibly stupid, and I bet that annoying voice pisses most people off. not me though! she also has lots of stupid phrases she overuses like "you bet!" and "baiba!" that all make me smile. her battle voices are also awesome. #23 - Miles Edgeworth (Phoenix Wright) I never really saw the hype behind Edgeworth when I played Phoenix Wright. he's a fairly complex character, but I never saw what was so "cool" about him. he acts kinda like an emo kid and I never really liked his character design. seriously, what's up with that suit? I'm manly enough to like pink and purple, but even I wouldn't rock that junk. I also never really cared for his character portrait - I like him in court when he's pointing and doing all that, but his face when he's looking straight at you in the investigation scenes? blah. but man, Edgey makes case 2-4. he's completely unpredictable and I can never get a read on him. he really steals the spotlight in that case -- maybe because he's approximately 15 steps up from Franziska von Karma? -- and it's thanks to him that 2-4 is such a crazy, unpredictable case. Edgey is awesome. I agree about the character portrait thingy - his
court animations are awesome (especially THE BOW) but in the
investigation scenes he's kinda annoying. He gets better in JFA when he

1-4's better than 2-4, but Edgeworth in 1-4 is so... apathetic. it
drives me nuts. 1-4 is awesome because of Phoenix's absolute faith in
Edgeworth and by the amazing ending. 2-4 is not nearly as good in
either of those ('specially the first) but is instead awesome because

=( i can't remember why it was so fun but 2-3 was more fun than any other case in JFA, even if the story was implausible and ridiculous (but i don't get how people complain about the murder in a world where spirit chanelling exists and is widely-accepted) okay; that was a pretty terrible argument but i haven't played it in half a year <_< --- SigSig We can fly away... |

I think the coolest Edgeworth moment in 1-4 was when the earthquake
happened, and Maya says Edgeworth's "on the floor in a ball,

haha, well 2-3 has nothing that really draws it to me. the murder as you said is utterly ridiculous -- I mean, they all are, but this was so implausible that I said "oh come on" repeatedly throughout the last day of the trial. it also has characters I really had no interest in. they're really one-dimensional. I can understand someone liking Moe but I didn't like him at all. 2-2 has an awesome twist; 2-4 has several along with some really cool characters like Adrian Andrews. 2-3 has nothing that can compare. --- xyzzy *waits patiently for CJayC to announce a Game Contest* |

i understand preferring 2-2 and 2-4, though. i mean, i liked 2-4
because it was really well written and like you said, it had a MUCH
better cast of characters...and i would say the same about 2-2 except
that most of the case kind of bored me, even if it did have a good
story. i just laughed a lot in 2-3, and the whole thing was just fun to play through. i couldn't really put it any better than that unless i played through it again, which i'll get to in a few months or something. >_> --- SigSig We can fly away... |

#22 - Lulu (Final Fantasy X) I really like Lulu because of how blunt she is. she's got no problem telling someone off, and in FF10 that's usually a good thing. I think her cold voice really adds to her character, too. sure, she's forgotten about by the time you get halfway through the game, but I don't mind. she's also got a kickass character design. I'm not a fan of the crazy cleavage because it just looks stupid, but the badass dress with all the belts? the moogles and cactuars for weapons? the hair? hell yeah. sure, it's completely ridiculous to fight in, but so is pretty much everything these days. if you're gonna be ridiculous with your getup, you might as well go all out! --- xyzzy *waits patiently for CJayC to announce a Game Contest* |
