8 - SineNomine Sine is a ton of fun. I wish I had the ability to see where Sine was posting at all times because I'd follow him around to see what mischief he's up to. Sine had been on the board previously (and every other board on the site, he was a pretty active board hunter once upon a time), but he didn't really become a board 8 "regular" until the Moderation Wars of 2005. Sine and Astral came along and spent lots of time explaining all the weird moderations and really calmed down the e-tension here. after everyone calmed down, Sine stuck around and instantly became the most popular user on the board. I remember when Sine posted the screenshot of the mod boards where they were summoning Captain Planet and doing all kinds of other crazy stuff. oh man, the board went nuts over that. do you still have that thing? you should post it again if you do.. either way, him and Pleinair had a lot of fun with that. Sine is fun as hell to fad with, mostly because he abuses the hell out of his mod powers to make it more fun. one of my favourite nights in board 8 history was the night when I made an "in before Sine" topic and he responded by locking an "in before transience" topic and posting in it repeatedly. after that we played "you make disruptive topics and I'll see how fast I can mod them!" Soul got his contest priviledges revoked thanks to that night. that was one of the funnest days on board 8 that I can remember. recently, we had Zhuge's "in this topic, I mod all fads" topic where Sine posted LUEshi within like eight seconds. that was also a lot of fun. Sine's "suicide" on Snack Attack was awesome for the first couple of hours as well. I think most of my favourite moments on GF involve him. Sine's also really helpful. if something happens on the boards and I need something answered, Sine is the place to go. Sine handles more marks in the moderation queue than anyone, yet he still is able to let borderline stuff slide in the interest of having fun. Sine's one of my favourite dudes to talk to and incredibly fun to screw around with. --- xyzzy |

Who's the one that went all emo? Made a big hoo-ha about how mods are

regardless of whether jp deserved it, it was still harassment and
wasn't going to stop unless somebody got punished for it. I don't care
for the purgatory, but I thought he handled it well, especially when he
posted in the topic despite it being a lot easier to just mod the hell
out of it as a mystery mod. if it was me, I probably would have said
"okay, anything after this post is going to be suspended. stop it.",

ha. a slap on the wrist would not have stopped most people from reposting them though. I'm not saying punish the hell out of anyone who ever makes a fat joke or anything, but that was half the board doing it all at once to one person. it was a fad and it was harassing the hell out of the kid. though on the flipside, he hasn't been seen since. think of your purgatory as working towards an end! Daily Grind today says that mod apps are finally being processed, so we may have a repeat of 2005 in a couple weeks. hopefully not. --- xyzzy |

7 - Kaxon if there was one person I wish I could hang out with from board 8, it'd be Kaxon. Kaxon and I have most of the same likes and feel the same way about a lot of things. plus he's my age, so we relate the same to a lot of stuff. he's also pretty funny when he wants to be - on board 8 he's mostly just a stats topic / list guy, but when he feels like being social he can be hilarious. he's slowly turned into an alt whore and he has some of my personal favourites, such as Mario Cheated. awesome. Kaxon is probably best known as being the guy (along with King Morgoth) who runs the Oracle Challenge, probably the biggest contest in board 8 history. the amount of work he puts into that thing is daunting and he does his absolute best to accommodate everyone. Kaxon is doing a top 50 games list (http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=30131476) that more people should pay attention to. go post and tell him what you think! he's got all kinds of good stuff on there. god knows he better finish that before the contest starts or he's going to be spending 10 hours a day on GF trying to keep up with all his projects! --- xyzzy |
