2 - the icon ownz all board 8's resident "indie kid." Icon is to music as Heroic Mario is to games - Icon starts talking about it, everyone else chimes in their thoughts. Icon knows more about music than pretty much everyone on the board and has no problem letting people know what he thinks about it. I think I can name 50 things that he likes and 50 things he dislikes. the first time I really talked to icon was sometime in early 2k5. Ulti's Battle of the Bands was going on, which ended up being Queen vs. Iron Maiden in the finals. the elitist musical snob in me was like "oh man, this board has horrid musical taste" and Icon had one of his monthly "post your ten favourite bands and I'll rate them". I said to myself, "I'm sure someone with the name the icon ownz all is going to have spectacular music taste, let's see what happens here..", I dropped my ten favourite artists, and... whoa. Icon praises the list. I was all, "there are indie kids on board 8? what the hell?" Icon and I don't actually agree all that much on music. we both like Sigur Ros (him more than me), Air (me more than him) and Skinny Puppy (about equal, from what I can ascertain) among others, but we're usually listening to different stuff. we both go out and listen to a whole bunch of obscure stuff though, so we can at least talk about what we've found. it's cool to have someone who knows more music than you do too cause you can get some cool recommendations. Icon is a great help for whenever I need a second opinion on something I'm hearing about. that's not even the main reason why I like Icon though. Icon is my single favourite person to converse with on the boards. he'll make a topic about something stupid like "Today my butter was nasty.", and we'll end up having a 50 post discussion about something completely random. I love being completely random, be it in real life or on the internet, so these are probably my favourite topics on the board. I always click on an Icon topic unless it's about, like, fantasy hockey or some other Canadian crap. the best topics is when there's a third witty person involved, such as Ryoko, EC, Sess, Cass, FAHtastic, etc etc. I love those stupid three-way topics we get involved in. they're awesome as long as Icon's not doing that weird third-person gimmick. Icon's got a great sense of wit too. he was the first person to start giving me nicknames, from tranny to trannyscience to, uh, pretty much anything tran-related. hell, this account was only made because he dared me to make it so I could start calling him PU. I should do that more often. I love the way he'll make fun of people. I love watching the #1 Charlie Villanueva fanboy rave about how awesome he is. I love watching people enter his topics and praise Nickelback or Fall Out Boy or Metal, because I know what's coming. when Icon is around and he and I and screwing around from topic to topic, it's great fun. I love the hell out of that kid. --- xyzzy |

1 - Applekidjosh my board 8 best friend. Josh and I talk near-daily about everything, from his relationship with his girlfriend (ha ha) to weird things we find on GF to games to just about everything. Josh is friendly, can be funny and is in my opinion the easiest person on the board to like. I got to know Josh when we started hanging out on his secret board back in, oh, November. he named a Disgaea character after me, I had been discovering the world of board hunting and his was the first "secret board" I hung out on. we scared some other people off that board with our weirdness. Josh, GP, Mega Mana and myself carved out our own little mini-community there. since then, I see him on every single board on the site. I can find him literally anywhere. occasionally he and I will go claim a random secret board and start posting there until a few other people show up and find us. he's a bigtime alt whore and used to have over a hundred accounts before he got stupidly axed. he's one of those GF dorks that can't stop posting even if he hated the place. Joshua is board 8's resident 'Japanophile'. he loves anime and is addicted to rhythm games, especially DDR. Josh is pretty freaking good at DDR. he sometimes calls me a "closet DDR fan" since I play but never talk about it. this is probably because I'm embarassed to be listening to such repetitive dance music over and over! other than DDR, Josh and I pretty much never agree on games or music. he likes his J-Pop and his Disgaea and his Suikoden 2, I like my ambient electronic music and my Metroid and my Suikoden. he often calls me anti-fun because I always say I find everything stupid, and he's probably right. Josh is one of the most upbeat, happy people I've ever known online, and that's why he's freaking awesome. #1. --- xyzzy |

Well this was done rather quickly compared to most lists. And I even
read all of it, unlike most lists. I find it hard to believe that
anyone reads all of some of the other lists that just posts and posts
for one game/character (this is clearly not directed at anyone). I
guess that means that I should throw out some high-fives or whatnot
