(Well, at least in my skewed perspective. But that's not as catchy of a title!) I wanted to do this ever since Josh's "Best of 2006" topics caught on and I realized I remembered a lot more of the year than I thought. This was my first full year as an integrated member of the Board 8 community, and I've really enjoyed myself - otherwise, why would I keep coming back? As much as people like to moan and complain about the board, there's a lot of good that happened this year, and while of course I can't remember all of it, here's what I do remember, in handy list form! I compiled this list of 50 users (narrowing it down was not easy) based on the simple question of "Did they make the board a better place to be in 2006?" How I define "better place" is different from how others would, of course, but I tried to capture diverse opinions as well as mine just for the sake of completeness. I don't pretend (apart from in the title >_>) to make this a list representing the entire board as a whole: this is the board as Ed Bellis sees it, plain and simple. To that end: If you're not on this list, it doesn't mean I hate you or that it's personal or some other bullcrap whining that certain people will likely do. Like I said, it was tough narrowing it down, and it meant a lot of users I really, really like didn't make the cut in favor of some users I don't care for nearly as much. (Like I said, going for a board-as-a-whole approach instead of just are-you-my-friend approach.) If you want to name people who didn't make it, feel free - this is meant to be a topic for reminiscing and having fun, so by all means don't let me by the one to do it all. In summary: DON'T. WHINE. Or I'll get MWIS to put you in the box. Every ten users or so I'll be posting one of four smaller lists - best topics, best projects, most embarrassing moments and the best things/concepts to come from the board. Like I said, not around for everything, so feel free to list your own memories and such. This'll... probably take a while and fill up a few topics, so have fun, drink champagne, whatever. 50. Elite Hunter The man formerly known as Worlddude. Or oliphaunt. Or, quite possibly, Jimmy Hoffa. Sometimes I think there's only a handful of users on this board who actually play games, and oli's one of them. Anyone who's ever read one of this "most anticipated games" topics knows that the dude loves his video games, and even for mostly non-gamers like me, that's infectious. He also knows his stuff and plays an incredible variety of titles, from DS to 360 to PC. The dude likes his drama, but he also knows how to relax and have fun. 49. wavedash101 Does this dude ever complete his own thoughts?!? Had AKJ ever finished tabulating the results of his now-purged "Best of 2006" thing, wavey would likely have taken best new user of the year, and it's easy to see why. Once the dude got here he pretty much posted almost everywhere and made a name for himself through knowledgeable posting and general friendliness. His score in Rate the User is definitely much higher than a normal "new user"'s score, and for good reason. Who doesn't like wavedash? (That said, the dude does engage in the most ANNOYING typing quirk to me - the habitual ending of every single thought with ellipses. wavedash is alright. I got to know him through Zach's stickam and we
have frequent disagreements about Chrono Cross. I had no idea that he
