5. "A Baby's Gotta Do... (Rugrats Fanfic - Please Read!)," by AuroraKing Link: http://gamefaps.net/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=29840335& sid=54af4483b35d3e0f87b9ebce8f160368 (only partially done) Erotic fanfiction and Board 8 are no strangers to each other, but erotic fanfiction about babies is another thing entirely. I don't think AuroraKing intended his topic to be a suicide, but the preposterous Rugrats "fanfic" was bumped and linked to so often that it reached 500 over a matter of days, despite presumably being marked to all hell. Clearly, the mods were enjoying it as well. Users were getting in on the fun and posting their own "stories," and the weird thing is that the topic turned into a big nostalgia-fest for Rugrats when all was said and done. Sadly, Aurora was banned shortly after the topic's completion, but his work lives on in Board 8 infamy. 4. aga's Phoenix Wright ASCII topic (title unknown), by agasonex You've got to give agasonex credit - give the man an inch and he'll move it a mile. This topic, made very early in the year, was pretty much just aga going crazy and creating a bunch of Phoenix Wright ASCIIs, including one of his now iconic "OBJECTION!" pose. aga basically had a massive conversation with all of them over the course of 500 posts, which surprisingly never got old and never stopped being funny. If there's one user who's probably the biggest "casualty" this year, it's definitely aga, and this topic is proof of how much we should all miss him. 3. "Terry Bogard's Contest Analysis," by sephsblade Everybody mocks Terry Bogard's Broken English, but who dares to write entire paragraphs in his peculiar Engrish dialect? sephsblade did, making his own spin on the slew of self-made analysis topics with utterly hilarious results. Even if you didn't follow fighting games and couldn't understand half of what was typed (I fall into both categories), the results were still utterly hilarious. 2. "So, should I come out of the closet yet?", by Izzizy A gripping and epic saga of a man who hid in his own closet to freak out his roommate, Izzizy's escapades in his own closet were chronicled on Board 8 for all to see, from close calls and late runs to the fridge to the consequences of his roommate finally getting what he deserved. Even though it was pretty much the weirdest prank ever, it wasn't mean-spirited at all, and Izzizy had a blast doing it - and so did everyone watching it. (Technically, this was two topics, but hey, I won't tell if you won't.) 1. “~What Would You Do, Round 2 - Day 12 - PICS. NAO: Tim Allen style!~," by RX7InfinitiIII Link: http://gamefaps.net/genmessage.php?board=8&topic=30153363 &sid=54af4483b35d3e0f87b9ebce8f160368 I suggested the idea of Rex using s0ber's brilliant "Censor porn with Tim Allen" idea (the only thing to my knowledge LUE ever ripped off from Board 8) as a joke. To my surprise, he took it. To my even greater surprise, people were willing to go through with it! We got all manner of exposure this topic, from FFD's bold first pic (tree-trunk legs ftw!) to Not Dave standing on a chair with his weird Groucho Marx mask on to ExTha trying to fake us out by posting one in his underwear (we can tell!). And, of course, Josh on the DDR pad. I can't think of a single topic this year more fun and just plain awesome to be a part of. Oh, and: Honorable Mention: "Ed Bellis talks about the users," by Ed Bellis Hey, it was my favorite topic of the year! 500 (and nearing 1000) posts of talking about just about everybody, with most users getting at least two paragraphs. There's a separate category for Projects. If it's on there (not saying if it is or not!), that's where it'd be. It's probably honestly a little too soon to tell exactly where Mercenaries would belong on a best projects list, but I have faith it'll get up there eventually. :P |

40. WiggumFan267 Making the board a more random place, one post at a time. Wigs has always been one of the board's more notable comedians, and this year he had a lot to work with. Notable among his accomplishments including a hilarious essay on Gordon Freeman winning his match (which now shares AT's hallowed spot on Ulti's Freewebs page), a topic of nothing but Rugrats quotes (HALT! I AM REPTAR!), and a bunch of other funny stuff as well. Wigs isn't just random; he differs from lesser funnyists (shut up, it's totally a word) in that his silliness normally has a point to it beyond LOL THIS IS FUNNY.
