In NYC a friend and I blundered around and ended up in Greenwich
Village for a bit. Went into my first gay bar and stayed for.. less
than five minutes. Not my kind of environment. Ate a fancy omelette.

Okay, here's what I've got for the fourth "list" - it's less a list than a compilation of various Best Things to Happen on Board 8, in Various Categories. It won't be nearly as detailed as the other ones, since it's less structured, but I hope to cover a few diverse things. K? K. Best Troll: NoDiceCurt. In a year of lackluster joke accounts and transparent attempts at pushing the board's buttons, Curt stands above the rest as somebody who really knows how to get under people's skin. His topics, ranging from narcissism to Link-bashing to any other number of things, generate a lot of decent responses, and the dude stands his ground and backs himself up like no other troll this year. For all the people decrying the lack of "good trolls," Curt should be their answer. Best Alt Trolling Account: Viper Vixen. On the flipside, there were a number accounts that were obviously alts that... pretty much generated no response whatsoever. Smurf's Viper Vixen persona, at the very least, stands out as an effort to create a fairly feasible person, one who was often entertaining to boot. Even though most of VV's topics turned into the board laughing at her (see: Ryoko's hilarious comments about Viper's dead cat Taco, Sine deleting her topic and calling himself "some jerk," etc.), "she" really led to a lot of shared entertainment on the board. Best Suicide/Axe: SonikkuGBA. Back when people were waiting to hear from Ceej on the status of the spring contest, Explicit Content thought it'd be a good/funny idea for people to ask about it while contesting bogus NKL moderations. SonikkuGBA thought that posting a bunch of porn sites, censor bypasses, and the Harry Potter spoiler would get him a 3KL at best so that he could contest the moderation. The result was, of course, a ban, and he (now going by PukeInMyPot) still seems to remain fairly confused about it today. Best Rivalry: Amazing Telephone vs. SDragonRocker5. AT, he of impossibly large wit, decided to take a "heel turn" and become the rival of SDR, he of impossibly dumb... everything. AT called him out numerous times over the board and even went so far as to set up a fake Myspace for SDR, among other wacky shenanigans. These were made even funnier by SDR's incapability of producing a comeback any greater than "your so gay," which AT just lapped and went with. A real riot for anyone on the sidelines. Best Scandal That Wasn't Actually a Scandal At All: Sir Chris "fails to" close his account. After finally losing an account bet against The Almighty Jebus, self-proclaimed "legend killer" Sir Chris made several topics claiming that he would not close his account and that he never had any intention of going through with any of his bets at any point in time, despite both yoblazer and Heroic Mario closing theirs as per the account's stipulations. The board went absolutely crazy all day, with some people defending him and some people calling him a jackass, until Chris came home from work and linked everybody to a topic he'd made on a dead board earlier that day claiming that he had every intention of closing his account and that he just wanted to rile everybody up one last time. Good, ultimately harmless times. Biggest Disappointment: USB3 continues to be on interminable hiatus. Sabin announced and held signups for the third User Season Battle sometime over the summer of 2005. Since then, nothing whatsoever has come of it, and Sabin has vehemently insisted that nobody else run "his" contest in his place, despite the obvious fact that he has no desire to do so. Board 8 has made do without USB, though; the UUL has become a user tournament with a much more even playing ground, for one, although the magic and allure of the first two USBs has yet to truly be rivaled.
