(Well, at least in my skewed perspective. But that's not as catchy of a title!) I wanted to do this ever since Josh's "Best of 2006" topics caught on and I realized I remembered a lot more of the year than I thought. This was my first full year as an integrated member of the Board 8 community, and I've really enjoyed myself - otherwise, why would I keep coming back? As much as people like to moan and complain about the board, there's a lot of good that happened this year, and while of course I can't remember all of it, here's what I do remember, in handy list form! I compiled this list of 50 users (narrowing it down was not easy) based on the simple question of "Did they make the board a better place to be in 2006?" How I define "better place" is different from how others would, of course, but I tried to capture diverse opinions as well as mine just for the sake of completeness. I don't pretend (apart from in the title >_>) to make this a list representing the entire board as a whole: this is the board as Ed Bellis sees it, plain and simple. To that end: If you're not on this list, it doesn't mean I hate you or that it's personal or some other bullcrap whining that certain people will likely do. Like I said, it was tough narrowing it down, and it meant a lot of users I really, really like didn't make the cut in favor of some users I don't care for nearly as much. (Like I said, going for a board-as-a-whole approach instead of just are-you-my-friend approach.) If you want to name people who didn't make it, feel free - this is meant to be a topic for reminiscing and having fun, so by all means don't let me by the one to do it all. In summary: DON'T. WHINE. Or I'll get MWIS to put you in the box. Every ten users or so I'll be posting one of four smaller lists - best topics, best projects, most embarrassing moments and the best things/concepts to come from the board. Like I said, not around for everything, so feel free to list your own memories and such. This'll... probably take a while and fill up a few topics, so have fun, drink champagne, whatever. 7. KleenexTissue50 Most helpful user of the year. Kleenex is another of those users who was everywhere i 2006, and he always left his mark, running a good number of contests and topic series along his way. Kleenex was one of the best for always leaving funny little comments and generally keeping the board moving along; everybody seems to know the guy for this reason. He also ran the very fun Board 8 User Gauntlet, which everyone is still clamoring for a second run. Some of Kleenex's other accomplishments include running a contest based on SephirothG's Rate the VG Character series, running his own (still going) Rate the VG Music series, and placing first in Zachnorn's Alphabetical User Tournament. Still, Kleenex's biggest contribution to Board 8 - apart from his intensive and well-received top 50 games list - has been his helpful and silly nature. Kleenex was a large part of the oil that kept the Board 8 gears moving - and he still is. --- This was Ed Bellis. Rufus Shinra 18 took a shotgun to my bracket. Congrats, Guru champ! |

Karma Hunter is next? He has to make the list IMO, he's an Ed Bellis kind of poster >_>. He also had that really cool topic where he did a bunch of predictions and ranting. Zen has the whole archiving thing, the wedding, fishy sticks, other stuff. AKJ has been one of the best all around posters, and has done some cool projects Sir Chris for various posting, he helped a lot of users out this year gaming wise (omg he works at EB guys, he's such an expert >_>), and of course, all the account bet drama stuff Zachnorn did a bunch of projects, the wiki, and the overrated things generally got some discussion started. Mammerjammer, because Ed is the biggest fanboy ever >_>. Hence, my predictions > all. |

6. Icehawk The best at blending the old with the new. Icehawk returned from the depths of nowhere in 2006 to become one of the board's most notable posters. Icey's biggest Board project was likely his "Would you hit that if there was a 10% of an STD?" topic series, which is currently being run by ESY16, although he was also involved with a number of other things, including a unique Rank Your Favorite User Tournament. He's also been active with the UUL and can normally be found in any topic involving ranking or discussing users. Icey always seems to have a good read on the "pulse" of the board, and this year he seemed very attuned to the board as a whole, getting to know a lot of newbies and chatting things up with the old-timers; his top 50 users list (currently sluggishly going through its second incarnation) definitely indicates this, as Icehawk has a great mix of new and old users that flock to him. Always willing to lend a hand and to listen, Icehawk emerged to be one of the most notable and valuable users of the year. --- This was Ed Bellis. Rufus Shinra 18 took a shotgun to my bracket.
