Hello all!

I've been playing TW since 1990.
I soon noticed it had a bug in it that made it crash at random times, which was nasty.

After so long i decided to start building my own remake of TW called Transport Manager (i am a programmer).
So; question is: is anyone here up for a remake, or should i just stop in my efforts ??

heh! .. the good news is: i created this remake back in 2000/2001 (yes it took me 2 years to make!). The idea started even years before that, coz of the frequent hangups my poorly translated C64 version had those days (it was half german/half english -- i understand both languages, but this mix didn't make sense at times). Since English is not my priomary language, i may need some help from you UK or US people on grammar or choice of words. I didn't get a pc until 1993, and then it took me some more years to finally get started on it.

The bad news: it had several nasty bugs init, that i still need to fix.
I've been checking over it this past 2 hours, and also downloading something called "Press play on tape" -- They actually play C64 music on REAL instruments -- awesome!  check their website pressplayontape.com

Anyway: This new version is somewhat different from the original. It has still the feel of the same game, as it is also turn-based, but it has many more features, and reports etc, etc, etc.  Suffice it to say: the c64 had only 64kB of memory, and my game exe already surpassed 4MB (not including graphics or sounds/music)

I've also already typed in a preliminary help file (both as standard windows-help and as HTML documentation), and it includes new pictures, but i am inclined to use the old ones (i did not have the pc version back in 2000).

I'll leave it at this, and post some more later on!

enjoy... and please PLEASE be patient!  I am a working dad, and if i don't burn out coding 40 hours a week for my boss, i can squeeze in a few hours a day in my own time working on my private projects. Keep in mind:  it has been 7 years since i started, what's another year ?  :P *just kidding*

I've been working on a real multi-player version. It works well on a local network, but i had some timing problems when it comes to greater distances, like ... the internet..  YES: multi-player over the internet, but: don't keep your hopes up.

hm.. i guess this means i need to reactivate the website (it has been inactive for 2 years now).
I'll be back tomorrow!

it didnt take me 7 years.. ^^ READ! ^^

It took me almost 2, well actually less, but i created a new look (the window captions etc have all been redesigned to use some type of old-style Atari-ST look to give it more of an 90's feel). And i didn't get to spend every single evening on it: i worked on it for a couple weeks at a time, then after a month or so picked it up again, and so on..

Judging from the file dates here, i'd say i finally stopped somewhere in october 2002 with version 0.26.
There IS a 0.27 on my HD too, but that's the version with the new internet-multiplayer test in it, which didn't work as i expected. From there on, i focused more on getting my IRC-interface working properly (you will also find a sample of that IRC client in the tm folder on my server - it's 100% free to download, and also 100% UNsupported, as in: it may crash - it's BETA).

Oh, and i think i misstated it earlier: the date on the project is 2001/2002 (not 2000/2001): the first year i worked out the basics, the second year i worked more on the graphical layout of the game. And i still felt like it needed more, before i could release it into the open.
